Lee Cheon-hee and Jang Wooyoung felt the intensity of the labor as they took on the rafter work.
On the 27th broadcast of tvN variety show 'Predictable' episode 3, construction on Kim Sook's house in Jeju began in earnest, and the rafter production process was revealed.
That day the two participated in processing a live tree to make the rafters, which form the foundation of the thatch roof.
Rafter production is a process that involves stripping the bark with a sickle, smoothing the surface with a plane and finishing with a grinder. After learning the technique from the thatcher, Lee Cheon-hee and Jang Wooyoung began working themselves.
Lee Cheon-hee asked, "Is this your first time peeling bark like this?" and Jang Wooyoung replied, "I have made cutting boards before, but this is my first time peeling bark from the start."
After the two spent about 40 minutes trimming one tree, they showed a hollow laugh. Watching them, the thatcher said, "It takes me more than 20 minutes too," noting the difficulty of the work.
Lee Cheon-hee said, "Doing one rafter feels like trading it for my waist," expressing how intense the work was.
While taking a short break and drinking instant coffee, Kim Sook and Baekga, who had been working on the mountainside, arrived at the site. When Kim Sook asked, "Hey, are you playing around?" Lee Cheon-hee embarrassingly tried to explain, and Baekga reacted, "I wasn't going to say this, but are you really punks? Playing around?" which drew laughter.
In response, Lee Cheon-hee explained, "I just came out. It was loud inside so I didn't even know you called." Jang Wooyoung quickly moved away and acted as if to go inside the workspace to show he was working, adding another round of laughs.
Meanwhile, tvN's 'Predictable[家]' is a program that documents the rebirth of Kim Sook's Jeju house and airs every Friday.<
