Hong Jin Kyung appeared with her daughter Rael at their Pyeongchang-dong home. When someone said to Rael, who appeared from behind, "When will you show your front? Didn't you get exposed on TikTok?", Rael replied, "TikTok is fine; I don't like the YouTube platform," expressing a distinct conviction.
In response, Hong Jin Kyung said, "It became a national topic because the before-and-after editing were so different that people felt a sense of disconnect," and Rael replied, "All women look different without makeup (five years ago) I wasn't wearing makeup then," adding, "It has to be different," and choked up. When the production team asked, "You don't look that different now; you're pretty—weren't you upset?", Rael said, "Yes," and cried, adding, "There were too many malicious comments," which was heartbreaking.
Rael said, "Honestly, I didn't add extra editing to the TikTok video; I used the filter available on TikTok," and Hong Jin Kyung bluntly told her daughter, "The filter made one person look like a different person." Rael protested, "Editing exists to be used; filters exist to be used—what's wrong with that? People who do that need to make a living; people have to use it to eat," expressing her grievance.
Then Hong Jin Kyung said, "At least worry about your mother; suddenly articles poured in this morning and I wondered what was going on," referring to the serious news coverage at the time. That was because articles about malicious comments regarding editing indeed flooded out. When Rael asked, "Did I upload a strange photo?", Hong Jin Kyung said, "Honestly, you slimmed down your body size a lot," and Rael replied, "Isn't that something you naturally do?" adding, "If you go to Seongsu-dong, everyone slims the waist," which made Hong Jin Kyung exclaim.
Hong Jin Kyung said, "Be careful on social media; rather take up tennis and dance," and Rael said, "If I can't post dance on my story, I have nothing to enjoy; getting comments from friends that I dance well is my happiness," adding, "I was filling my happiness well through TikTok." Hong Jin Kyung consoled her, "I empathize with your pain; let's put this pain to rest for now," and concluded.
