Group BTS's new release 'Arirang' (ARIRANG) dominated the Apple Music global charts upon release, once again proving its worldwide musical influence.
As of Mar. 21, 'Arirang' achieved the feat of reaching No. 1 on the Apple Music album chart in 102 countries within one day of release, and has since reached No. 1 in a total of 115 countries/regions. Since its release until now, it has maintained the No. 1 position in more than 100 countries every day, continuing the strongest global success on Apple Music.
Also, the title track 'SWIM' recorded No. 1 in global streaming, and all tracks on 'Arirang' entered the "Today's Top 100: Global" chart. With seven songs in the top 10, 'Body to Body', 'Hooligan' and 'FYA' occupied positions No. 2 through No. 4. (As of Mar. 23)
In particular, 'Arirang' recorded the highest streaming numbers among BTS albums on Apple Music for both its first day and first weekend. The release day, Mar. 20, was the day BTS set their highest-ever record on Apple Music, becoming the most streamed artist worldwide on that day. This figure represents more than an eightfold increase compared with the 30-day daily average immediately before the release, proving listeners' enthusiastic response.
BTS also showed overwhelming performance in Apple Music's lyrics features. All 14 tracks on 'Arirang' occupied the top 14 most-viewed lyrics on Apple Music, and in the lyrics translation feature, tracks including 'Body to Body', 'Hooligan' and 'FYA' showed high usage.
On Apple Music, a variety of content was presented alongside BTS's new release 'Arirang'. Through Apple Music, BTS released "Album introduced by the artist: BTS's 'Arirang'," delivering the production process, meanings and behind-the-scenes stories of each track in their own voices. Apple Music also spotlighted BTS's journey from their debut to the present through a seven-hour "ARMY Radio" special broadcast on the comeback day, and exclusively revealed behind-the-scenes of the album's production through voice messages from each member.
Along with this, BTS appeared on Apple Music's 'The Zane Lowe Show' to discuss the production background of the new release 'Arirang' and the messages contained in the album. These exclusive contents and in-depth interviews were released sequentially to coincide with the album release, adding to the global excitement.
This achievement represents BTS's highest level of global response on Apple Music, showing that 'Arirang' is widely connecting with music fans around the world.
Meanwhile, BTS will appear as a full group on NBC's 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' on the 26th and 27th, marking their first full-group appearance there in about 4 years and 8 months.
