"Radio Star" has announced singer Jo Gap-kyung's appearance, and officials are checking the specific details regarding the privacy controversy surrounding his son.
On the 26th, a representative of the MBC variety show Radio Star told OSEN that they are checking the detailed situation regarding Jo Gap-kyung's screen time for the episode to be broadcast next week and the privacy controversy involving his son. They added, "We will let you know our position after confirming the specific details," and cautiously declined to say more.
Jo Gap-kyung will appear as a guest on Radio Star, which airs on April 1. In connection with this, at the end of the Radio Star episode aired on the 25th, a preview scene announcing guest appearances by Jo Gap-kyung, singer Chae-yeon, Rainbow's Go Woo-ri, and fromis_9's Lee Chae-young appeared.
However, this comes in the aftermath of a privacy controversy involving Jo Gap-kyung's son. Singer Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-kyung's eldest son, a person surnamed Hong, married his ex-wife A in 2024 but their marriage ended in divorce after eight months. A said she became pregnant one month after the marriage but miscarried, and while she became pregnant a second time soon after, she claimed that Mr. Hong's affair led to the divorce. In the divorce suit, it was recognized that Mr. Hong's affair was responsible for the divorce, and she said he was ordered to pay 30 million won in alimony and 800,000 won per month in child support until the child reaches adulthood, and that she was awarded 20 million won in damages in a lawsuit against the other woman.
But A said she has not properly received the alimony and child support even though the child is now 18 months old, and that she contacted the child's grandparents, Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-kyung, but did not receive help.
In response, Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-kyung said they gave money to their son to cover part of the alimony, and that regarding child support, only a first-instance ruling has been issued in the divorce case and an appeal is underway, so they are taking a reserved stance and waiting to pay after the trial ends on the advice of their lawyers. As a result, attention is focusing on whether Jo Gap-kyung's appearance on Radio Star will proceed as scheduled.
Radio Star is a singular talk show that disarms guests with razor-sharp wit that can go anywhere and draws out their true stories. It airs every Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
