Actor Yoo Ji-tae gave up melodrama acting for his wife, actress Kim Hyo-jin.
On the 25th, Yoo Ji-tae, who became a 10-million-audience actor 28 years after his debut with The King's Warden, appeared on tvN's You Quiz on the Block.
After the film The King's Warden became a major hit, surpassing 10 million viewers, Yoo Ji-tae said about his family's reaction, "My wife said she heard people saying that. They said they really liked the movie. 'He looked so hateful,' she said," and added, "My son's friends told him, 'Dad is too scary,'"
Yoo Ji-tae said he plays villains more than melodramatic roles because of his wife Kim Hyo-jin. He said, "I felt it was being overly glorified. After all, I'm an actor and I'm a bit serious. When I take a role I tend to focus on it, and if I do a very intense melodrama my heart struggles, so I thought it would be better to play villains."
When Yu Jae-seok said, "As many people know, Yoo Ji-tae is naturally a melodrama actor. When you think of Yoo Ji-tae you think of melodrama," Yoo Ji-tae replied, "I would like to do something like a drama. I would like to do a social drama that changes society," expressing his wish to work on a piece far from melodrama.
