BTS's comeback fever heated up nights in New York and London beyond Seoul, turning the world into a festival.
BTS on the 25th at 10:30 p.m. released a compilation video titled "BTS THE CITY ARIRANG" on the team's YouTube channel. This project expanded BTS's comeback into a global celebration and an immersive media space across major cities worldwide.
London's South Bank and New York's Brooklyn Bridge also joined in celebrating BTS's comeback. The London Eye, a London landmark, created a spectacle by lighting up in intense red. On nearby building facades, a media facade displayed images of members holding traditional lanterns and the album logo. In New York, drones performed a synchronized routine against the Manhattan skyline. They clearly etched "NEW YORK, WHAT IS YOUR LOVE SONG?", "ARIRANG", the team name "BTS" and the number "7" representing the seven members into the night sky. Hundreds of drones formed the Big Dipper, delivering a moving moment that crossed borders.
Not only global landmarks but also the dazzling media facades in the heart of Seoul and moments shared with citizens were vividly captured in the video. Shinsegae Square drew attention with 3D visuals that made the members seem about to jump out of the screen. A media facade using the Sungnyemun fortress wall, National Treasure No. 1, as a screen majestically depicted the silhouettes of BTS strolling leisurely. Thousands of citizens gathered at the site raised their phones to capture the historic moment unfolding before them. The Sungnyemun media facade was held on the 20th to commemorate BTS's comeback and is regarded as a successful example of infusing modern vitality into cultural heritage.
The festive energy spread throughout the city. Seoul Namsan Tower displayed the "Arirang" album logo, and thousands of drones over Ttukseom Hangang Park recreated the faces of the seven members with astonishing precision, prompting cheers at the site. Yeouido Hangang Park's "Love Song Lounge" also kept citizens out late with busking performances and a variety of interactive events.
"BTS THE CITY ARIRANG" became a festival connecting Seoul, London and New York. In Seoul, programs showcasing the city's various charms, such as DDP's "Army Madang" and Cheonggyecheon's "Love Quarter," are scheduled to open.
