Actor Jang Dong-yoon, who captivated viewers and audiences with sincere performances in a variety of works from the drama The Mantis: Original Sin, Nokdujeon, Like Flowers in Sand, Daily Dose of Sunshine to the films Long Day, Wolf Hunting, Beautiful Days, is taking on a new challenge as director Jang Dong-yoon. His first feature directorial work Nuruok has confirmed its opening on Apr. 15 and has unveiled the teaser poster.
The film Nuruok (director Jang Dong-yoon, producers Lee Tae-dong and Jeong Eun-taek, produced by 1031 Studio Co., Ltd. and Gana Studio Co., Ltd., co-provided by 1031 Studio Co., Ltd. and Roadshow Plus Co., Ltd., distributed by Roadshow Plus Co., Ltd. and Film City SMC Co., Ltd.), which was invited to major domestic film festivals including the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, the Seoul Independent Film Festival and the Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival, has finally confirmed its opening on Apr. 15.
Nuruok, which opens exclusively at Megabox, is Jang Dong-yoon's first feature film as a director. It tells the special story of Dasul, an eighteen-year-old girl who is the daughter of a famed local brewery and loves makgeolli, who one day senses a change in the taste of makgeolli and sets out to find the missing nuruk, the main ingredient of makgeolli.
As the work that follows the short film Be My Ears, which director Jang Dong-yoon premiered in 2023, expectations are rising about how his deep and delicate direction and fresh storytelling will unfold. In particular, Nuruok adds to its uniqueness by focusing on nuruk, a Korean ingredient not commonly used in domestic films, and the stories that surround it.
The teaser poster released with the opening news captures Dasul (Kim Seung-yoon) clutching makgeolli with the phrase "Can I find my world again?" and raises curiosity. The unexpectedly fresh combination of a high school girl and makgeolli, something never seen in any film, grabs attention and stimulates the curiosity of prospective viewers.
From the first poster release, Nuruok has piqued audience interest with its distinctive atmosphere, and having already been invited to several prestigious film festivals, expectations are high about what story will color theaters this spring. In addition, producer Lee Tae-dong, known for For Eagle Brothers and Gang Gye-jang, participates as a producer; Kim Seung-yoon of For Eagle Brothers, Traveler's Need, In the Water, and Chan-sil Is Very Busy, Song Ji-hyeok of Trigger and S Line, and Park Myung-hoon of Parasite and Crash Landing on You appear, raising expectations.
