A 14-year-old Thai girl melts Korean living rooms with a groove sensibility.
'K-pop rising star' hopeful Rita, a Thai newcomer training in Korea, was unexpectedly chosen as the vocalist for the KBS1 daily drama Marie and Her Three Daddies OST and will release the included song "Moonlight" on the 26th.
OST production company Rosebud said, "Despite her young age of 14, Rita, who is from Thailand and possesses a full feeling and groove, was assigned the vocal, which added deep emotion to the drama nearing its end."
The new song "Moonlight" emphasizes the meaning "the nights of this city shine brighter than the day," as in the lyrics "Moonlit dreams shine so bright …… This city shines brighter than the daylight," and sings about the affectionate lyricism of the night.
With stylish lyrics and an addictive synth riff, the song highlights Rita's charming tone and groovy rhythm, revealing more and more a dark yet fully integrated sense of one's inner self the more you listen.
This song is a collaboration between composers Go Byung-sik and Lee Hyung-sung, who have worked on albums and OSTs with various artists such as i-dle's Minnie, Oh My Girl's Hyojung, NU'EST's Kim Jong-hyun, and Wanna One's Yoon Ji-sung, and it brought out Rita's vocal charm.
Rita, who is from New Jersey in the United States, passed an audition for a K-pop survival program held in Thailand and was selected as an OST vocalist while training as a trainee in Korea.
"I am very happy and honored just to be able to sing an OST in Korea," she said, "When I first heard the guide, I felt it was truly beautiful, so I prepared for the recording diligently, and I hope my sincerity reaches the listeners."
KBS1 daily drama Marie and Her Three Daddies OST Rita's "Moonlight" will be released on music platforms at 12 p.m. on the 26th.
