The group BTS appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" wearing slippers.
BTS appeared on the popular U.S. NBC talk show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which aired on the 25th (local time).
This appearance was to commemorate the comeback of BTS's fifth full-length album "Arirang (ARIRANG)", released on the 20th, and marked their first full-group appearance in about 4 years and 8 months since July 2021. BTS departed for New York, U.S., on the morning of the 22nd for this purpose.
What drew attention during BTS's appearance was the slippers. BTS appeared in the interview studio wearing slippers instead of shoes in the Korean style. The members wore identical slippers and sat side by side on the sofa to conduct the interview and deliver their comeback impressions.
RM said, "In Korea, taking off shoes is part of the culture," explaining and introducing Korean culture, which attracted attention.
However, there was an unfortunate incident. Seth Herzog, the MC responsible for warming up the audience for "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," made a joke related to "North Korea" at the recording site that seemed aimed at BTS. Before BTS's appearance, he joked to the audience, smiling, "Is there anyone here from the north (North Korea)?"
When the incident became known, controversy arose that he had made a rude, racist remark toward BTS. Herzog reportedly apologized directly to BTS's side.
