Voice actor and broadcaster Seo Yoori explained why she publicly posted the divorce agreement that included clauses related to property division.
On the 25th, Seo Yoori posted on her social account that "I tried to contact him personally to resolve the liability issue, but because he had blocked my contact information from the start, I had no choice but to make the divorce agreement public."
Earlier, on the 19th, Seo Yoori uploaded a photo with the caption "When can I receive it?" The photo was the divorce agreement written at the time of her divorce from her ex-husband, PD Choi Byung-gil, and it contained details about the property division.
According to the agreement, PD Choi Byung-gil must pay Seo Yoori a total of 320.3 million won as property division by Dec. 31, 2024. If the payment is delayed, interest of 12% per year will be added from Jan. 1, 2025. In addition, there was a clause stating that if PD Choi Byung-gil violates the payment, Seo Yoori may claim payment of the amount through a separate lawsuit.
However, because she still had not received the property division even a year past the payment deadline, she appears to have posted the divorce agreement herself to press for payment.
Afterward, when malicious comments portrayed her as if she were seizing PD Choi Byung-gil's property, she wrote in anger that "property division is truly scary. I gave a man who only had liabilities everything I had over five years, paid off debts in my mother's name and in my name, and when we divorced the debts all became mine while the man agreed that he only had to pay me that amount. This side is not creative economy, that side is."
She also posted a message targeting PD Choi Byung-gil that "There was a lot of commentary while I hadn't revealed formal documents, but now that I've released the documents, there's nothing to say."
As some negative public opinion arose over her release of the divorce agreement, Seo Yoori posted an additional message saying that "he had blocked my contact information from the start," indicating that individual resolution was difficult.
She added, "My family and I are currently struggling to resolve the remaining debts. People around us are helping, but it's insufficient to solve the problem. I only hope the situation is resolved soon," and expressed frustration, saying, "I've learned a lot of life lessons. Let's stop now."
Meanwhile, Seo Yoori married PD Choi Byung-gil in 2019 but divorced in June 2024. The two clashed over various issues during the divorce process, including company equity, and after the divorce Seo Yoori accused PD Choi Byung-gil of repaying only 300 million won of the 600 million won he borrowed from her and demanded repayment of the remaining amount. She also said she took on some 2 billion won in debt through the divorce and has so far repaid about 1.3 billion won. In response, PD Choi Byung-gil has continued a sharp confrontation, arguing that "it was not used personally but went into the 'Rona Universe' business that Seo Yoori and I own 50:50," and that "I am trying to take responsibility for and fulfill the debt I agreed to repay to Seo Yoori."
