"'Survival authority' Jang Dong-min shared his thoughts on appearing on 'Betting on Fact.'
On the 26th, the Wavve original 'Betting on Fact' press conference was held online. The event was attended by Jang Dong-min, Lee Yongjin, Ye-won, Jin Jung-kwon, Hellmouse, Jeong Young-jin, Kang Jeon-ae, Park Seong-min, and Kim Min-jong PD.
Wavve's new original survival 'Betting on Fact' is a reality news game show in which eight contestants living in an era flooded with fake news live in an isolated space and distinguish the veracity of news. Comedian Jang Dong-min·Lee Yongjin, professor Jin Jung-kwon, broadcaster Jeong Young-jin, singer and actor Ye-won, political YouTuber Hellmouse, former Democratic Party of Korea Supreme Council member Park Seong-min, and former People Power Party spokesperson Kang Jeon-ae have confirmed their appearances.
The players are expected to engage in fierce debates and strategies to win the final victory, and intellectual play featuring panels specialized in debate, including mind battles to distinguish fake news from real news, is expected to offer a fresh kind of fun and strong immersion.
That day Jang Dong-min said, "It is at a point where even me going on a survival show is burdensome. But this time it questions the veracity of news. And it takes the form of a survival show. It was an area I hadn't experienced, so I became interested and my competitive spirit was triggered. And I thought I could test some of my other abilities," explaining his reason for appearing.
About the glamorous cast, Jang Dong-min said, "I thought 'this won't be easy.' Other survival shows still have one or two people I had worked with or who gave off a familiar vibe. This place had a very different atmosphere. It was hard to gauge," and added, "No matter what you expect this time, there will be clashes. I think you can look forward to the professionalism itself very much."
In particular, Jang Dong-min recently drew attention by speaking at a meeting with President Lee Jae-myung and making remarks to the effect that 'fake news must be eradicated.' He said, "How much would I have been tormented by fake news on 'Betting on Fact' to mention it in front of the president? The government really needs to stop it. And if you watch this program consistently, I can confidently say you will develop the insight to judge veracity, saying 'Ah, this is fake.'" He added strongly, "As I said at the meeting, fake news really must disappear. I think everyone should watch this program nationwide," drawing laughter.
