'Betting on Fact' cast member Jang Dong-min said, "If this is fact, I'll stand up and protest," choosing a bold "independent route" from round 1.
The Wave original variety show 'Betting on Fact', which will first be released on the 27th, is a fact-identification survival show in which eight cast members who live in an era flooded with fake news live in an isolated space and judge the veracity of news. Comedian Jang Dong-min·Lee Yongjin, professor Jin Jung-kwon, broadcaster Jung Young-jin, singer and actor Ye-won, political YouTuber Hellmouse, former Democratic Party of Korea Supreme council member Park Seong-min, former People Power Party spokesperson Kang Jeon-ae and eight players are expected to deliver high-purity dopamine through fierce debates and strategies, alliances and betrayals.
The eight players raise tension by entering an intense "psychological battle" from the opening. With all eight gathered, Hellmouse lands a direct hit at Jin Jung-kwon, saying, "You often talk nonsense; doesn't that mean you're done as a critic?" freezing the scene. Immediately after, Jin Jung-kwon firmly draws the line, saying, "There is no need to speak with Hellmouse separately." Also, Kang Jeon-ae and Park Seong-min engage in a fiery offstage verbal duel, saying, "Isn't the Democratic Party of Korea too arrogant?" and "That party still hasn't come to its senses," creating a tense conflict structure.
Immediately after, the players return all their smart devices and, with communications completely cut off, enter the "round 1 fact war" to judge the facts of articles. In particular, when "polar opposite pairings" such as Jin Jung-kwon x Hellmouse and Park Seong-min x Kang Jeon-ae begin an uncomfortable cohabitation in one room, the studio exclaims, "Delicious!" Amid this, Jang Dong-min, while reviewing an article related to "young forty," says, "This is nonsense; if this is true, I'll stand up and protest," choosing a path completely opposite the prevailing public opinion. Attention is focused on whether Jang Dong-min, returning to survival after a long time, can get the correct answer with his convictions and "instinct."
Meanwhile, after round 1 ends, a "last-place pairing" is born and becomes the butt of jokes due to a miserable correct-answer rate. Jung Young-jin asks the team with a mocking question, "Shouldn't you get at least half right even by guessing?" Meanwhile, Lee Yongjin warns, "If I end up on the same team as Dong-min from now on, I'll make sure that match loses somehow — I can't stand the sight of him…" issuing a proclamation against survival GOAT Jang Dong-min from day one. Whether Lee Yongjin can produce a comeback play that surpasses Jang Dong-min through the program is drawing attention. Episodes 1 and 2 will be released at 1 a.m. on Friday the 27th.
