Park Sung-woong's forced return-to-farming story "Sim Umyeon Yeonriri" lifts its long-awaited veil today.
The new KBS2 miniseries "Sim Umyeon Yeonriri," which premieres at 9:50 p.m. on the 26th (written by Song Jeong-rim and Wang Hye-ji, directed by Choi Yeon-su, produced by Sim Story), is a family reboot healing drama about the hard-fighting, topsy-turvy efforts of the true urban family, the Seong Tae-hoon household, who suddenly fall into the pristine yet harsh(?) district of Yeonriri as they try to make a comeback to Seoul.
A still released ahead of the premiere captured the incongruous appearance of K-family head Seong Tae-hoon (Park Sung-woong). He appears in the middle of a rural village wearing a perfect suit and sunglasses, piquing curiosity. Questions focus on why Seong Tae-hoon, who had been flourishing as a director general at a major company, suddenly fell into the rural village of Yeonriri and what the unusual circumstances of his demotion are.
Meanwhile, village head Im Ju-hyung (Lee Seo-Hwan) of Yeonriri appears before Seong Tae-hoon, intensifying the tension. Unlike Seong Tae-hoon, who expects help in an unfamiliar environment, Im Ju-hyung treats him as an unwelcome guest of the village and quickly eyes him with a sharp look of caution. As their delicate first meeting arouses interest, Seong Tae-hoon asks Im Ju-hyung for help finding a house in the village, but a situation different from expectations unfolds. Viewers are curious about why he reached out to the village head first and what changes their meeting will bring.
Also captured was the Seong Tae-hoon family plunged into meltdown. Seong Tae-hoon's wife Jo Mi-ryeo (Lee Soo-kyung) cannot hide her bewilderment at her husband's sudden behavior, and the three sons — Seong Ji-cheon (Lee Jinwoo), Seong Ji-sang (Seo Yoon-hyeok), and Seong Ji-gu (Yang Woo-hyeok) — are also thrown into confusion as they face shocking realities they never experienced in the city.
After many trials and tribulations, what happened to the Seong Tae-hoon family when they arrived in the village of Yeonriri, and why everyone in the rural village gathers with bewildered faces — attention is focused on the first broadcast, which will unfold these turbulent events.
Episode 1 of the KBS2 new miniseries "Sim Umyeon Yeonriri" premieres at 9:50 p.m. on the 26th.
