'I'm SOLO' season 30 wrapped its romance journey by producing two final couples.
On Wednesday the 25th, the ENA and SBS Plus reality dating show I'm SOLO depicted the final choices of season 30's "Egen-nam–Teto-nye special," where the mismatched timings and sincere confessions at Solonara 30 intersected. As a result, Youngsu–Oksun and Youngsik–Youngja became final couples, while Yeongho–Yeongsuk and Youngcheol–Jeongsuk failed to overcome personality differences and remained supporters of each other.
Earlier, as most of the solo men and women left the lodging for the "super date," Youngsu and Youngja, left alone, naturally talked. Youngsu cautiously revealed his lingering feelings for Youngja, saying "you are one of the people involved in my worry," and confessed that the weight of that worry reached "70 to 80%." Youngja regretted, saying, "If it was that much, you should have shown it more," and the two retraced their mismatched timing. Then Youngja said in regret, "I want to do it again, from the beginning." Youngsu left room for possibility, saying, "There is still a chance."
A short while later, Kwangsu returned from his date with Oksun and invited Youngja to go on the "super date." Youngja said happily, "This is the first time I've come here and dated someone other than Youngsik," and Kwangsu replied, "I just liked you as a person and wanted to get to know you." However, during the meal Youngja kept talking about Youngsu. She said, "Earlier he said Youngsu had 70 to 80% of his heart for me. What if he had expressed it a little earlier?" Afterwards, in an interview with the producers Youngja showed an ambiguous attitude, saying, "It's already late, but you never know what might happen."
Around the same time, Youngsu, who went on a "super date" with Oksun, made a confident remark. At the wine bar, when Oksun said, "On the last day I thought I'd be so nervous I was going to call my dad," Youngsu said, "We can just go together." Oksun, swooning, asked again, "Do you think I don't need to call my dad?" and Youngsu replied, "I don't think you need to." After the date, while returning to the lodging with a substitute driver, Youngsu's car suffered a flat tire, but the two remained upbeat, saying, "This is even better. We can date longer."
But their sweet mood abruptly changed back at the lodging. With everyone gathered in the common living room, Youngja said she "still hasn't decided," and Youngsu flirted, saying, "I have to talk to Youngsu~." Oksun, who heard this right beside them, was shocked, exclaiming, "Oh my gosh!" and immediately went to Youngsik, saying, "What are you doing now? Act like a man and take Youngja out," launching an "Ojakgyo operation." Youngsik mustered the courage to call Youngja out for a 1:1 conversation. Youngja vented frustration, saying, "I don't know what on earth you're thinking," and "I feel like we're going nowhere." Youngsik admitted, "I'm not someone who expresses myself strongly," and asked honestly, "What should I do?" as he tried to advance the relationship.
Yeongho and Yeongsuk also sat down again to assess the possibility of their relationship. Yeongho said, "We're both too stubborn," and "If we dated, it wouldn't be a big fight but a total mess," asking whether they could overcome that difference. Yeongsuk replied, "If I feel someone is coming on first, I don't want to lose either." Yeongho left room, saying, "I want to check if compromise is possible," but in the end the two closed the conversation without reaching a clear conclusion.
The next morning, Youngcheol prepared a special event for Jeongsuk. He retraced everything Jeongsuk had said and created the foods, spaces and atmosphere she liked, presenting a "Jeongsuk collection." Immediately afterward Youngcheol brought Jeongsuk to the "event room" and confessed, "When I'm with Jeongsuk, my thoughts become simple and I feel comfortable," and "I think I've found my ideal type." Jeongsuk was deeply moved but at the same time cried, saying, "I'm not sure if I'm a vessel that can hold Youngcheol."
Youngsik also prepared a final event for Youngja. Youngsik took Youngja to the place where their hearts connected when they made their first impression choices in Solonara, and handed her a letter saying, "I want to undo the shortcomings of my past behavior." Afterwards he appealed sincerely to Youngja, saying, "I hope you'd give me just a little more chance." Youngsu called out Sunja for a walk to sort out their relationship. Sunja smiled through effort, saying, "He didn't confess, but the difference in feelings is bittersweet." Afterwards the two thanked each other and said their final goodbyes.
After everyone from season 30 who had done their best to express their feelings gathered, the final choices proceeded. Youngsik said, "I hid my weak and cowardly self behind thick armor because I wanted to hide it. That armor broke while I was here. I want to show that heart," and then went straight to Youngja. Youngja responded with a smile and became a final couple with Youngsik. Youngsu and Oksun also chose each other. Meanwhile Yeongho and Yeongsuk gave up on choosing each other because they could not overcome personality differences, and Youngcheol chose Jeongsuk but Jeongsuk did not make a final choice. Sunja, who ended up mismatched with Youngsu, along with Sangcheol, Hyunsuk and Kwangsu, also gave up their final choices. Youngsu, who paired with Oksun, said, "I want to go on a trip quickly this weekend," expressing anticipation for a real-life date with Oksun, and Oksun also said she was excited, "I'm looking forward to getting to know what kind of person he is better."
The ENA and SBS Plus co-produced variety show I'm SOLO will start a new romance with season 31 at 10:30 p.m. on Wed., Apr. 1.
