Three years have passed since Next band guitarist Im Chang-su left us.
March 25, 2026, is the third anniversary of the death of Next band guitarist the late Im Chang-su. He died in a motorcycle accident in Vietnam on March 25, 2023. He was 54.
According to local media such as VietnamNet at the time, Im Chang-su was involved in a traffic accident while riding a motorcycle. He was then taken to a nearby hospital but ultimately did not recover.
After Im Chang-su's death, composer and professor Kang Ho-jeong recalled the deceased, saying, "Im Chang-su, who loved music, died after a motorcycle accident," and "He even performed "Fly, chick." He was such a good musician that many musicians praised his sensibility." Guitarist Tamy Kim also mourned Im Chang-su, saying, "My deepest condolences to the deceased."
A graduate of the practical music department at Seoul Institute of the Arts, Im Chang-su gained recognition by participating in Next's 1994 second album 'The Return of N.EX.T Part 1: The Being.' The album that Im Chang-su contributed to included "Doppelgänger," "The Dreamer," "Fly, chick," and "The Ocean: On Immortality." Im Chang-su made an impression with his precise and flamboyant guitar playing.
Afterward, when Im Chang-su could no longer perform due to a hand injury, he transformed into a businessman.
