Short-track national team member Kim Gil-li reveals the backstory of the nickname "Lamborghilli" on Radio Star, showcasing both bold talk and candid charm.
Today (25th) the MBC variety program Radio Star is presented as a special titled "Olympic various stories_Choi Choi-jong-wan" featuring Choi Min-jeong, Kim Gil-li, Kim Sang-kyum and Yu Seung-eun.
Kim Gil-li is the one who, after recording the overall No. 1 cumulative result from the 1st to the 6th rounds in the International Skating Union (ISU) 2023-24 season World Tour series, received the "crystal globe," given to the season's best athlete. He captures the studio's attention by revealing the trophy and a special golden helmet engraved with his name.
He also reveals the backstory of the nickname "Lamborghilli." It was a nickname given by his rehabilitation trainer who adapted a car name for Kim Gil-li, who boasts incredible speed, and it spread through social media and naturally stuck, adding interest. In particular, he attracted attention by recounting that because of the nickname he received supercar treatment at the airport after the Olympics.
Kim Gil-li grabs attention with the bold remark "I'm the best," while provoking laughter with candid revelations about his soul mate and close senior Choi Min-jeong. Especially with the blunt line "Min-jeong unni can't do anything except skate," he turns the studio into a sea of laughter.
He then recalls the moment he won the gold medal as a member of the women's short-track relay at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Kim Gil-li vividly recounts the tense moments at the scene, saying he sensed the gold medal the moment Choi Min-jeong touched his body.
