"THE WASP (말벌)" is a two-person play about two classmates, Heather and Kaala, who reunite after 20 years. In it, Kwon Yuri plays Kaala, who receives a shocking proposal from Heather, whom she bullied during their school days.
In particular, Kwon Yuri, pregnant with her fifth child, fully absorbs the somewhat shocking character traits of rough speech and behavior with delicate acting, drawing a look distinct from the image she has shown so far and earning praise for a fresh transformation.
Above all, from the story's starting point, when she receives Heather's proposal and falls into deep conflict, to the latter part that races toward the climax of the play by exploding every emotion, she fully captures the constantly shifting emotional line, filling the 90-minute running time without a gap.
On the strength of this, Kwon Yuri appeared on the early morning broadcast of SBS' Nightline on the 25th. She said, "Kaala was a character very different in tone from the roles I have done so far, so I was very eager as an actor," expressing affection for the work and the role.
She also said, "It was a continuous challenge from start to finish. To get a little closer to Kaala, I bought a maternity suit to get used to it, and to practice constantly with focus I rented lodging near the rehearsal room and prepared like an exam student," explaining why she chose the work and her preparation process, drawing attention.
