Mamamoo member Moonbyul ramped up engine output to the maximum ahead of her comeback.
Moonbyul will release her third single REV at 6 p.m. today (25) on various music sites. It will be about four months since Moonbyul last presented a new song with the digital single S.O.S, released in November last year.
REV carries the meaning "to increase the rotational speed of the engine," and includes a total of three tracks: the title track Hertz, DREAMER and "Gise". In particular, Moonbyul proves her musical capabilities by directly participating in writing and composing all tracks while racing across the track powered by her unique frequency. Foretelling her all-rounder side that freely crosses the boundaries of vocal, rap and performance positions, below is a Q&A with Moonbyul ahead of the release of her third single REV.
Q. You are releasing your third single REV about four months after your last release. How do you feel about the comeback?
A. Because it's been a while since I've been active, both my excitement and anticipation are high. I'm also looking forward to finally being able to show everyone Moonbyul's intense and energetic performance that many people have been waiting for.
Q. REV carries the meaning "to increase the rotational speed of the engine." You participated in writing and composing all tracks. What message do you want to convey through this single?
A. I wanted to once again deliver the messages I have always given myself and my fans since my debut: "let's spread our dreams with our own frequency and our own momentum" and "I love myself." I hope everyone gains courage from listening to this single.
Q. Please give a brief introduction to the title track Hertz and explain the performance points.
A. "Hertz" is a song that captures me moving forward powered by my own unique frequency. Like a car engine, the thrilling and intense beat whose vibrations are felt throughout the body, combined with layered vocals and rap, is very attractive, so I think this song best expresses Moonbyul's charm.
Also, you can't leave out the choreography when talking about this title track, and we put a lot of effort into the choreography because it's such an intense song. In particular, the hand motion expressing frequency at the highlight part is the point. If you go through the various choreographies that express the song, you'll feel, "They really prepared hard for this song!"
Q. Compared to your previous works, are there any new attempts or distinguishing features in this single?
A. If my previous works showed Moonbyul's bright energy, this single captures the charismatic side of my solo album's early stages. I'm very curious to see how fans will react to this single.
Q. The racing concept received a great response from fans. In which direction and at what speed is Moonbyul currently heading?
A. The part I always worry about while promoting is my own direction and speed. I tend to try various things to find Moonbyul's unique direction, and through this REV I feel I have found my identity as a solo artist. This single made me feel, "I'm finding my direction at my own speed."
Q. Please say a word to the fans who have been waiting for Moonbyul's comeback.
A. While preparing this single, I talked a lot with fans about dreams. I want to say again that I sincerely support fans in 2026 as they achieve their dreams day by day with their own frequency and momentum.
