'Radio Star' high school medalist Yu Seun-geun showed the boldness and cuteness typical of Gen Z at the same time.
On the 25th episode of MBC entertainment show 'Radio Star', snowboarding big air Korea's first medalist Yu Seun-geun appeared. At the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, the snow events swept medals for the first time in Asia, and snowboard alpine Kim Sang-kyum, snowboard halfpipe Choi Gaon, and snowboard big air Yu Seun-geun won the silver, gold, and bronze medals respectively, making the country the first in Asia to sweep skiing, skating and sliding (sled) events.
Yu Seun-geun and Choi Gaon were teenage athletes. Yu Seun-geun said of her event, "My father and coach recommended 1,220 degrees, but I thought that if I didn't do 1,440 degrees I wouldn't be in medal contention," adding that she did what she wanted. Yu Seun-geun said that because of the nature of snow events, training costs were enormous and that her mother supported her by doing dishwashing part-time jobs.
Yu Seun-geun said brightly that when she went to school, friends asked for her autograph, and her alma mater Seongbok High School even hung a banner. She added that a friend's academy teacher, who is a math teacher, said they are a fan and she gave autographs.
Yu Seun-geun said that like kids these days she likes dancing, and she energetically performed the choreography points from ILLIT's dance to (G)I-dle's 'Teuk'.
