'Endless investigation' actor Bae Seong-woo expressed remorse that the film is being released after seven years.
On the afternoon of the 25th, a press screening for the film 'Endless investigation' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. Attending were leading actors Bae Seong-woo, Jung Ga-ram, Cho Han-Cheul, Yoon Kyung-ho, and director Park Cheol-hwan.
'Endless investigation' (written and directed by Park Cheol-hwan, distributed by Ace Maker Movie Works Co., Ltd., produced by Cheongnyeon Film Co., Ltd.·IAAN Pictures Co., Ltd.) is a crime investigation drama about detective Seo Jae-hyeok (played by Bae Seong-woo), who was demoted to a rural backwater and is given one last chance in life, and his rookie partner Kim Jung-ho (played by Jung Ga-ram), an influencer-turned-detective, who head to Seoul to carry out a final investigation to catch the true culprit behind a murder case involving two suspects.
Based on real events, 'Endless investigation' is director Park Cheol-hwan's first film as a director, who has shown his directorial skills in series such as Grid and Blood Free. With the situation of 'one incident, two suspects,' it presents a chain of developments and repeated twists in the hunt for the real culprit, and promises nonstop excitement with colorful chemistry. Bae Seong-woo and Jung Ga-ram portray veteran detective Seo Jae-hyeok and rookie detective Kim Jung-ho, formerly an influencer, respectively, showing strong chemistry as a detective duo; Esom plays straightforward prosecutor Kang Mi-joo; Cho Han-Cheul plays elite detective Oh Min-ho; and Yoon Kyung-ho joins as murder suspect Jo Dong-o, completing the acting ensemble.
Most notably, lead actor Bae Seong-woo was caught driving under the influence in November 2020 at a level that would have resulted in license revocation. He withdrew mid-production from the SBS drama fly, Gaechon-yong and took a period of self-reflection, and was fined 7 million won for drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
He returned through the 2024 Netflix series The 8 Show, and continued activities appearing in Disney+'s Light Shop and Coupang Play variety show SNL Korea Reboot season 7. Meanwhile, the film that had been indefinitely postponed due to the drunk driving incident, originally titled Business trip investigation, was retitled Endless investigation and is coming out to the public after seven years.
Bae Seong-woo said he was grateful that the film was being released amid various circumstances, adding that he was thankful just for those who came today and that he hopes the film will remain a pleasant experience for viewers.
Asked if he felt anything about seeing himself on the screen again after a long time, he replied that he had not really reflected on the idea of 'I'm back in the field'; he said he was just thankful that the film is being released at all and that when he worked before he didn't have that sense. He added that he mostly thought about the work itself and hopes viewers enjoy it, and that he hopes people who spend their money and time coming to see it do not feel it was a waste.
About the feeling of the film being released after seven years, he said he felt very sorry that it was released so late because of his mistake. He said he has never thought 'I'm back in the field' and that he is always cautious, adding that he thinks he should continue to live carefully in the future. He said the film had been worked on for a very long time from the first script revision and that he hopes people have about two hours of enjoyable time.
He continued that after watching the film again after a long time and seeing the heavily edited final cut, he found the other actors were so good that it was really impressive. He said he told the bodyguard before entering here that it was really scary, and that Mr. Han-cheol and Mr. Ga-ram, and Esom, who is not here today, all performed their roles so well that they shone. He expressed gratitude and also apologized, and thanked the director sincerely.
Meanwhile, 'Endless investigation' opens on Apr. 2.
