Actor Lee Seo-jin gave a blunt piece of advice to a correspondent who was agonizing over the wedding venue with his Japanese girlfriend.
On the 24th, the YouTube channel 'Channel Sibo-ya' hosted a live broadcast titled "Be different from others: Lee SeoGenie's counseling corner."
That day, one correspondent sent in a concern about a wedding with his Japanese girlfriend of about three years. He is dating a girlfriend from Osaka, Japan, and is worried about which country and which region to hold the wedding. The correspondent also opened up about concerns over the wedding expense.
In response, Na Young-seok asked Lee Seo-jin, "Is Japan similar to Korea? Do they also receive congratulatory money? Do you know about that?" Lee Seo-jin replied seriously, "What would I know when I'm not even married?"
Then Lee Seo-jin said, "If this is going to bother you this much, break up. If you really love them and want to marry them, you wouldn't have these worries. Why are you worrying about this? Don't do it and just register the marriage and live together," and added firmly, "If you're going to agonize like this, why do it? Break up," drawing attention.
Lee Seo-jin added, "If you truly love someone, you wouldn't worry about things like this. Even people who truly love each other get divorced these days... If you're going to worry like this, it's better not to do it."
When Lee Seo-jin delivered his blunt advice, Na Young-seok was embarrassed and repeatedly apologized, saying, "Correspondent, I'm sorry." He also tried to stop Lee Seo-jin, who kept saying, "Just break up."
Lee Seo-jin said, "People who truly love each other don't have these worries. Did we worry about this when we truly loved someone back in the day? We didn't. Things like 'I'd die without you'—I don't think that's true love. It's not true love," and he emphasized repeatedly, "First of all, I haven't even been married, so don't ask me about this. I've dated before, right? People who truly love each other don't have these worries."
Lee Seo-jin said, "You haven't even been near a wedding venue. So don't ask me. But I think the very act of worrying about this is absurd. If it's wrong, say it's wrong. Did you worry about it? Just do it. Doing it is what matters," and maintained his opinion to the end.
Na Young-seok quipped, "You mean the fact that they're marrying because they love each other is what matters?" which drew laughter.
