Singer Ailee and her husband, Choi Si-hoon, shared an update on their in vitro fertilization procedure.
On the 24th, the "Illine Marriage Diary" channel uploaded a video titled "[IVF diary] DAY 2/12 My friends dreamed of the birth omen! I heard the results of the egg retrieval."
That day Choi Si-hoon said, "My friends dreamed of the birth omen. Lately I've been getting messages saying they suddenly had birth-omen dreams. My wife and I were both deeply moved by our friends' hearts. It really gives us strength. Thank you, my friend," conveying a positive energy.
He said, "Maybe thanks to the good dreams, there was really good news from the hospital. Fifteen eggs were retrieved, 12 succeeded in fertilization, and the happy news was that there were as many as seven top-grade day-5 embryos," drawing attention. Choi Si-hoon also joked to the doctor, "Was mine a bit strong?" which drew laughter.
Choi Si-hoon said, "I worried a lot, thinking what if we have to start over from the beginning, but this pleasant result made me think once again that this is really the start," and added, "I shouldn't get ahead of myself, but on the way home I wondered in a giddy mood which month the child would be born if conception holds and we give birth, what kind of year that would be, and what kind of energy the child would start with," revealing his excited thoughts about having a second child already.
He added, "Whatever the process or the outcome, I hope we remember that all of this is a chapter in our lives and that when we look back we will recall days we can talk about with a smile. Today too, go Ailee," offering affectionate encouragement to Ailee.
Meanwhile, Ailee married Choi Si-hoon, a former actor-turned-entrepreneur who appeared on Netflix's Single's Inferno season 1 in 2024. The two tried natural conception several times afterward but it did not go as they hoped, and they eventually started IVF earlier this year, news that has earned them much support.<
