Actor Um Tae-woong's wife Yoon Hye-jin expressed anger over allegations that her daughter was working an illegal part-time job.
On the 23rd, Yoon Hye-jin posted a video to her social account saying, "Dad didn't know it was an early dismissal again and was late, so while waiting she is working part-time at E-MART. So cute lol,".
The video was reportedly sent by Yoon Hye-jin's daughter Ji-on, and showed Ji-on in her school uniform ringing up items at a supermarket checkout.
She scanned product barcodes with a scanner and, after completing the checkout successfully, posed with a V sign toward the camera as if proud. But after the video was released, a report saying "if formally employed it's illegal" drew attention.
According to the Labor Standards Act, adolescents under the age of 15 are prohibited from working part-time. Those aged 13 to under 15 may work if they have a youth employment permit, but Ji-on was born in June 2013 and is still 12 years old.
When allegations of an "illegal part-time job" were raised, Yoon Hye-jin posted an additional message on the 24th to explain, "She didn't actually do a part-time job; she is close with the owner of the supermarket near the school where she always goes, and she just wanted to try it while waiting for her father. She didn't do paid work."
She also expressed frustration, saying, "The corner shop we always used to go to when we were kids... we'd go when mom wasn't home, chat, greet customers, and try doing the checkout," adding, "It's really no fun.."
Meanwhile, actors Um Tae-woong and Yoon Hye-jin married in 2013 and have a daughter, Ji-on.
