SBS 'Whenever Possible' reveals Yu Jun-Sang's secrets to 30 years in musical theater in a surprise disclosure.
SBS variety show Whenever Possible (directed by Choi Bo-pil/writer Chae Jin-ah) is a 'gaptime strategy' variety show that gifts luck during the brief spare moments encountered in daily life. As of the last broadcast, it recorded a peak rating of 5.4% and a 2049 rating of 1.6%, ranking first in its time slot and first overall among Tuesday's drama and variety shows, continuing its winning streak. (Nielsen Korea, capital region) Today's (24th) broadcast features the two MCs Yu Jae-seok and Yoo Yeon-seok together with actors Yu Jun-Sang and Kim Gun-woo, releasing high-energy dopamine in Changsin-dong.
Meanwhile, 'musical veteran' Yu Jun-Sang draws attention by revealing an extraordinary amount of practice. From his entrance, Yu Jun-Sang loudly sings a musical number, startling Yu Jae-seok and Yoo Yeon-seok. That day, Yu Jun-Sang's love for musicals does not stop there. When Yu Jun-Sang continues to sing passionately even while walking, Yu Jae-seok gives a thumbs-up, saying, "Among active musical actors, you're the only one who sings while walking." In response, Yu Jun-Sang expresses his firm practice philosophy, saying, "To do musicals for a long time, you have to practice a lot. I memorize the script on the first day, and though I'm sorry to the other actors, I ask them to memorize it within a week," prompting admiration.
At the same time, Kim Gun-woo raises curiosity by revealing behind-the-scenes of his first practice with Yu Jun-Sang. In fact, Kim Gun-woo is a self-proclaimed 'muri-ni' (musical + child) actor challenging his fourth musical performance. Kim Gun-woo recalls that he and Yu Jun-Sang are performing in the same show for the second time, saying, "When I met Jun-sang senior in the elevator, he started a conversation with lines," recalling an unusual first meeting. Then, as if he had been waiting, Yu Jun-Sang suddenly switches to a musical tone, prompting impromptu acting from Yu Jae-seok and Yoo Yeon-seok; Yu Jae-seok abruptly ends the skit, saying, "I'm just the audience," causing uproarious laughter.
Together, Yoo Yeon-seok, Yu Jun-Sang and Kim Gun-woo form the 'three generations of musicals,' adding interest. Yoo Yeon-seok introduces Kim Gun-woo's 'muri-ni' and says, "I think I'm more of a 'mur-ni' (musical + adult). Jun-sang hyung is a 'mubeoji' (musical + father)," organizing generational titles in the musical world and displaying the dignity of a musical senior. The three who have united as the 'three generations of musicals' are said to engage in lively musical talk about their recent projects as well as the practice secrets of veterans.
Whether 'mubeoji' Yu Jun-Sang's enthusiasm will shine in the Whenever Possible games is sure to greatly raise expectations.
