Group SEVENTEEN member THE 8 will appear as a headliner at a major music festival in China.
On the 24th, HYBE Music Group label PLEDIS Entertainment Co. said THE 8 will perform a solo set as the final act at the MIDOU(豆/미도) MUSIC FESTIVAL, held May 1-2 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China.
MIDOU MUSIC FESTIVAL began in 2014 and this year marks its 15th edition. Last year it was held twice, in June and October, drawing more than 80,000 and 60,000 spectators, respectively. In particular, the event has attracted many visitors from outside Jiangsu Province and has established itself as a mega event that boosts the regional tourism industry beyond a simple music festival.
THE 8 appeared as a headliner at the YJ (Yue Jian Chao Xiang/위에 지엔 차오 시앙) music festival held in Beijing on Sept. 21 last year, delivering not only singing and dancing but also a DJ set, which drew an explosive response. Fans began queuing from the night before to see his performance, and after the show many keywords related to THE 8 entered Weibo's real-time search rankings.
THE 8's artistic capabilities are evident in various content, including solo songs and art films. His single released last year, Star Crossing Night (feat. GALI), swept to No. 1 on major Chinese music charts, and the Chinese EP STARDUST, on which he participated in writing and composing every track, was also widely loved. In December last year, as part of the THE 8 Contemporary ART project, he released an art film for Skyfall (Remix Ver.) that expresses his emotions and perspectives through art.
