BTS, returning as a full group, is making a splash on charts worldwide with "SWIM."
BTS's new release "Arirang" (ARIRANG) title track "SWIM" ranked No. 1 for two consecutive days (March 20–21) on global audio·music streaming platform Spotify's "Daily Top Songs Global." The album track "Body to Body" rose to No. 2, with both songs holding top positions on both days.
The presence of every track on the album also stands out. "Hooligan" (No. 4), "FYA" (No. 5), "NORMAL" (No. 6), "Aliens" (No. 8), "2.0" (No. 9), "Like Animals" (No. 10), "Merry Go Round" (No. 11), "they don't know 'bout us" (No. 12) and others occupied high ranks on the same chart in large numbers. "One More Night" (No. 17), "Please" (No. 19), "No. 29" (No. 21), and "Into the Sun" (No. 22) also entered the rankings evenly, showing strength on global charts.
Domestic response is also hot. The title track "SWIM" topped the daily charts of Melon and Bugs for March 21, and as of 10 a.m. on the 23rd it remained No. 1 on major domestic real-time music charts including Melon, Bugs, and Jini, continuing its strong performance.
Arirang sold 540,000 copies on Oricon for March 22, immediately taking No. 1 on the Daily Album Ranking in Japan. According to Hanteo Chart on the 23rd, cumulative sales surpassed 4 million copies three days after release, maintaining No. 1 on the daily chart for three consecutive days. Critical acclaim for the new release has followed. The Guardian praised, "This album is a product befitting the stature of the world's biggest pop phenomenon."
BTS released "Arirang" on the 20th and opened their comeback the next day, the 21st, by holding "BTS comeback live: ARIRANG" (BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG) around Gwanghwamun Square.
On the 24th they will hold "Spotify x BTS: SWIMSIDE" in New York in collaboration with Spotify. That day BTS will meet local fans and present a performance of their new song. They will then appear on NBC's popular U.S. program "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on the 25th–26th.
