'Running Man' actor Park Shin-yang returned to Running Man after 13 years, drawing attention both for his unchanged appearance and his 14-year life as a painter.
On the 22nd broadcast of SBS variety show Running Man, while the members transformed into detectives, Park Shin-yang appeared as a client and presented a special mission.
That day, in front of the members gathered at the museum where more than 150 works were exhibited, he said, "Masterpieces from around the world have come to celebrate the exhibition, but one of them is missing," and requested help with the case. He went on to explain, "The authentic piece is hidden among forgeries, and there is a clue in the painting," and the deduction mission began: they had to find the single genuine piece among about 20 works scattered throughout the exhibition hall. The members searched the museum thoroughly to find hints, increasing their immersion.
Another highlight that day was Park Shin-yang's "legend reenactment." He recreated the piano performance scene from the drama Lovers in Paris after 22 years, delivering a 100% live performance that elicited admiration. The members cheered, saying, "Still handsome."
What attracted the most attention was his move as a "writer." Park Shin-yang taught himself to paint for 14 years, completing more than 200 works, and about 150 pieces were shown in this exhibition. In particular, the fact that not a single piece was put up for sale and that he emphasized communication with the audience drew the members' admiration.
Jee Seokjin expressed surprise at his youthful appearance, saying, "You don't seem to age. You're exactly the same as before," and Park Shin-yang responded with a laugh, saying, "Everyone's the same." The atmosphere flowed naturally, making his return after 13 years feel effortless.
After filming, Park Shin-yang shared his thoughts, saying, "I was very happy you came. I will try to make the exhibition easy and fun. Please come see the exhibition if you have time," not forgetting a bit of promotion. In response, Yu Jae-seok said, "Thank you for joining us after 13 years," adding a warm finish.
An appearance that seems frozen after 13 years, and a painter's path quietly continued for 14 years. Attention is focusing on Park Shin-yang's another move, expanding from actor to writer.
