On E Channel's flagship program Brave Detective 5, Lee Yi-kyung and Kim Sunyoung have left, and new members Yoon Dujun and Kwak Sun-young have joined.
On the morning of the 23rd, via a live broadcast, E Channel's Brave Detective 5 held a production presentation. Present were original members Ahn Jung-hwan and Kwon Il-yong, as well as new members Kwak Sun-young and Yoon Dujun, with all four MCs in attendance.
Brave Detective is a program that deals with detectives' case logs as they fight crime to protect the safe daily lives of the public. It first launched in 2022 and has continued for four years, and this time it will meet viewers in season 5. It is popular not only on TV channels but also on the global platform Netflix.
In previous series, Lee Yi-kyung and Kim Sunyoung appeared, and in the new season 5, Highlight's Yoon Dujun and Kwak Sun-young will be active.
About receiving the offer to appear, Yoon Dujun said, "My first thought was, 'Why me?'" and said, "I never expected to be able to appear on a program I listen to regularly because it felt out of reach. So when I received the offer, I was so surprised. I gratefully joined because Jung-hwan hyung, whom I really like, is there."
Kwak Sun-young said, "I answered the phone in the car and immediately said, 'I'll do it.' It's a program I enjoy watching, and I felt it was fate, so I just said, 'I'll do it.' There was no reason to hesitate. I think they cast me because I seem a bit brave and spirited." Ahn Jung-hwan said he was satisfied with the casting, saying, "I thought the two of them (Yoon Dujun, Kwak Sun-young) would not stand by if they saw injustice personally, and they seem to have lived kindly until now. I think that's why the production team chose them."
Although he is the leader in the idol group Highlight, Yoon Dujun, who became the youngest on Brave Detective 5, said with a laugh, "I'm 38, turning 40 the day after tomorrow. I'm still an idol working hard. I felt very grateful to be called the youngest." He added, "Because we've been together for almost 20 years, when someone joins a program there's not really a 'congrats' vibe. I first realized how much people around me watch Brave Detective compared with my members. Company staff, mothers and fathers really liked it; I felt I received the most support from them. Above all, member Yang Yoseop really likes this kind of program. I hope he watches it."
About his impressions of the first recording, which dealt with serious crimes, Yoon Dujun said, "It was very difficult. The atmosphere was different from when watching, and it was mentally hard," adding, "I felt a sense of duty of sorts and my heart felt very heavy."
The four MCs set a target rating of 1.5% for season 5 (Nielsen Korea nationwide).
Ahn Jung-hwan said, "In the past we exceeded 1%, but we've never exceeded 1.5%. If we exceed it in season 5, I'll give away 100 signed balls," making a pledge, and Kwon Il-yong declared, "I will give gloves for the warm working environment of police officers." Yoon Dujun said, "I will send a coffee truck to the places where police exam candidates study," and Kwak Sun-young said, "I will give cosmetics."
Kwon Il-yong said, "Actor Don Lee sometimes sends feedback. There are actors like Kim Nam-gil and Jin Sun-kyu," and Ahn Jung-hwan expressed his wish, saying, "I hope presidents around the world see it and give orders to stop crimes."
Meanwhile, E Channel's Brave Detective 5 will premiere on the 27th at 9:50 p.m.<
