Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller episode 357, airing tonight (23rd) at 8 p.m. on KBS Joy, features French Papa chef Lee Dong-jun, who participated in season 2 of Culinary Class Wars.
He usually has a bright image, but after appearing on the show he shed tears and even received malicious comments calling him a "story peddler," and he opens up about his concerns. Lee Dong-jun says, "I'm wondering how I can talk about it calmly," explaining why he sought out the fortune tellers.
That day Lee Dong-jun says he has three tear triggers. The first is his son. He cautiously confesses, "When the child was 2 years old he was diagnosed with autism spectrum," and "even now he can only say simple words or short sentences."
He says he once left for the United States for his child's treatment and temporarily stopped cooking. Lee Dong-jun says, "It was a time when my self-esteem as a chef fell a lot," and "at that time I wanted to show my child the fact that 'dad is a chef,' so I accepted the offer to appear on Culinary Class Wars."
Another of Lee Dong-jun's tear triggers is his wife and parents. He expresses deep affection for his family, saying, "I feel sorry for and grateful to my wife." In response Lee Soo-keun empathizes, saying, "The tear button has to be family."
After hearing the story, Seo Jang-hoon offers practical advice about malicious comments. He says, "Once you decide to appear on a broadcast you have to accept a certain amount of malicious comments," and adds, "People who insult do so for no reason. Over time it will naturally subside."
Lee Soo-keun also recalled his own second son, who once had health problems, and comforted him, saying, "I heard similar stories many times. You don't have to pay any attention. There's no need to be shaken by malicious comments." Hearing this, Lee Dong-jun also shows tears. Lee Soo-keun and Park Ji-yeon's second son, who will be a high school student this year, was born prematurely at 1.6 kg at seven months' gestation and suffered cerebral palsy, but is reported to have largely recovered now.
Finally Seo Jang-hoon adds, "It's natural to cry just thinking about the child's face," and says, "It's good to do your best for the child, but I hope you live with a little more ease and put down some of your worries."
Meanwhile, Lee Dong-jun serves the fortune tellers a bouillabaisse he prepared himself. After tasting the dish, Lee Soo-keun laughs, saying, "It tastes a bit like jjambbong broth," and Seo Jang-hoon also leaves a one-line review, calling it "a mild seafood stew flavor familiar to Koreans."
The counseling session, filled with heartfelt stories for family, warm consolation and the chef's special dish, can be seen on Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller episode 357, airing tonight (23rd) at 8 p.m.
