Hwanhee of the group Fly to the Sky revealed his most private time for the first time since his debut on Mr. House Husband.
Hwanhee appeared on KBS 2TV's variety show Mr. House Husband on the night of the 21st and for the first time in 28 years disclosed his family history. It was an honest portrait of him as a son, not the always-perfect vocalist on stage.
On that day Hwanhee cautiously explained his reason for appearing, saying "my mother speaks little and is curt" and "I wanted to spend time together." But the image of his mother delivered through the production team was different from what he had known.
His mother confessed, "I don't show myself much to my son. We have never taken photos together or traveled together," and "now my son is my breadwinner and my protector. I receive living expenses every month and I am always grateful and sorry." When Hwanhee first heard this, he said, "This is the first time I've heard her say so much," and looked back on the time they had shared.
Facing his mother's feelings, he went straight to her home, and his mother's true daily life felt unfamiliar and delicate. The two sitting across from each other found it hard to speak, but the mother's single request, "please sing trot for me," eased the awkward atmosphere.
During the simple home-cooked meal his mother prepared, the reason she had not eaten with Hwanhee for 10 years was revealed. She cautiously said, "As I get older I spill or drop things when I eat. I feel I have become ugly and I don't want to show that to my son," and they came to understand each other, saying, "From now on don't live so rigidly."
The story of Hwanhee's birth was also revealed for the first time. Even when told that survival was unlikely because he was born premature, his mother never gave up and held him. When Hwanhee heard that story for the first time, he finally felt the weight of his mother's love that he had not known for a long time.
Wanting to give his mother everything now after she had silently cared for him without complaint, Hwanhee suggested moving in together, but his mother firmly replied, "I know how you feel, but that won't do," choosing first to worry about her son's burden.
Expectations grow for the two people's stories that will be revealed through Mr. House Husband and the precious memories they will newly build.
Hwanhee entered a second heyday, gaining the nickname "prince of R&B" followed by "prince of trot" through MBN's King of Singers. After successfully completing the 2025 nationwide tour concerts Two Be Continued on the 24th and 25th of last month, he continues active promotions, releasing today (22nd) a remake of Patti Kim's original Love Is the Flower of Life.
