The group BTS shared their thoughts on the team's future.
On the 21st, Apple Music said global artist BTS appeared on Apple Music's "The Zane Lowe Show" and revealed various stories related to the new album "ARIRANG."
This episode was an interview conducted in person by Zane Lowe, Apple Music's global creative director, who met BTS at HYBE's headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul, and contained an honest conversation about their long-awaited return to music activities and the album-making process, their feelings about being together again after completing military service, and the special bond they have maintained as a team.
Through Apple Music Radio's flagship program "The Zane Lowe Show," Zane Lowe has conducted in-depth interviews with various K-pop artists including J-Hope, Jungkook, Rosé and Jennie.
Jin spoke about the everyday life spent together with the members, saying, "This time, living together with the members in the U.S., being able to eat together for a very long time and be able to do things at set times was so enjoyable and happy." RM also said, "It felt really strange," and added, "Living together under one roof and the work we did in LA for about two months was a major turning point and felt like a dream."
Zane Lowe also focused on the meaning contained in "Arirang," the title and core keyword of this album. RM said of the album title, "It seemed natural to choose the keyword 'Arirang,'" and added, "Arirang is Korea's long-standing traditional song, and in its abstract lyrics it contains longing and nostalgia. During the period of military service, we reflected on the time that passed, our longing for fans, and the moments we spent together, and we put these feelings into the album."
J-Hope described the musical identity of this work, saying, "Through this record we wanted to show a lot of our roots and identity and parts we wanted to show as Koreans," and added, "Trying to include those parts intact, I think it came out honestly and plainly."
Members' confessions about using their military service period as an opportunity for growth continued. Jimin said, "I painfully realized how precious the time to work and pour passion into something is," and added, "Thinking that I had to work harder, I kept practicing with Jungkook and spent time steadily even in the military," showing his unchanging passion for music. Jungkook, on returning to the team, said, "What I think is the most natural is that, rather than solo activity, we have always done a lot together as a group, so it felt somewhat natural," and said being together again was the most natural choice for him.
Especially, Zane Lowe confirmed the members' firm determination about the team's future. In response to the question "Can it be forever?" Suga showed confidence, saying, "If we want to, I think we can do it even when we're 80 or 90," and V replied, "It seems there's no choice but for each of us to keep trying so we can stay together as long as possible."
Concluding the interview, RM expressed deep affection for the members and fans. He said, "We are still here because we love each other so much," and added, "There are fans, and we have no reason to stop this precious brand and family. These people are my youth itself. So I don't want to miss this opportunity." He added that he did not want to leave behind the regretful lines "This was supposed to be done later," or "It wasn't about stopping the journey."
