On Salimnam 2, Hwanhee's mother sharply rejected her son Hwanhee's proposal to move in together.
On the 21st episode of KBS2TV variety show Salimnam 2, Hwanhee, who finally joined after three years of casting efforts, appeared. Hwanhee said, "Salimnam 2 often has family-related episodes, but I don't have many conversations with my mother. My mother doesn't talk much," expressing concern about his awkward relationship with his mother.
However, the mother's appearance when meeting the production team was different from the image Hwanhee knew. She had refused a meal for her son, who has a weak stomach; she was used to poverty, having never been to Jeju Island and enduring it; and she wanted not to be a burden to her son as an incapable parent.
Hwanhee was of course surprised. Not knowing what to say, he still wanted to have a meal with his mother right away. Hwanhee proposed, "I'll come into mom's house and do the things I couldn't do until now and live together." However, his mother said, "I know how you feel, but that won't do. It's already sad that I'm not fulfilling the role of head of household, and I don't want to make you suffer more," and added, "I've lived incapable and don't want to become more of a burden. There may be people who would blame you for having an incapable mother," saying no for her son's sake.
Hwanhee understood his mother's firmness. Still, he said, "I will try harder. If so, I think I should do more for my mother," and said he would work on their mother-and-son relationship.
