The leader of the group BTS, RM, revealed his ankle injury.
On the 20th, RM posted one photo on his social media with a "ㅠㅠ" tear emoticon. The released photo shows RM's leg with a thick compression bandage wrapped around his ankle.
BTS recently released the new song "SWIM" and made a spectacular full-group comeback for the first time in about four years, so the news of leader RM's injury was all the more heartbreaking.
BigHit Music, the agency, said RM injured his ankle while rehearsing for a performance on the 19th and will participate in some parts of the Gwanghwamun comeback live stage with limited performances.
The agency explained, "As a result of tests, he was diagnosed with 'accessory navicular sprain and partial ligament tear and talus contusion (ligament damage and inflammation)' and received medical advice to minimize movement after leg casting and devote himself to recovery for at least two weeks."
They added, "Because the comeback stage at Gwanghwamun is a symbolic space, the artist himself was very determined to deliver a highly polished performance, but the company gave top priority to the medical opinion and, together with the artist, made the difficult decision to minimize RM's movement at 'BTS comeback live: ARIRANG' to prevent worsening of the injured area."
RM also told fans, "We were preparing a concert together. I worked a bit too hard. On that day I worked especially hard and injured my ankle. Actually, I practiced dancing really hard this time, but it's difficult to show performances right away, so I don't think I can participate."
Meanwhile, at 8 p.m. on the 21st, the 'BTS comeback live: ARIRANG' performance will take place at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul. This performance is BTS members' full-group comeback, the first in about 3 years and 9 months.
