Broadcaster Kim Young-chul was appalled by the high prices in the U.K., yet surrendered to the irresistible taste of the "bewitching corn," providing big laughs.
On the 20th afternoon, a video titled "What made Kim Young-chul, who was turned away from restaurants n times in London, cry? (The reality of traveling in Europe)" was posted on the YouTube channel Kim Young-chul Original.
Kim Young-chul met Jiseon, a local acquaintance he came to know through singer Hwangbo, and visited a restaurant in London. The dish that immediately captivated Kim Young-chul's palate that day was a corn dish heaped with seasoning. After taking a bite, he opened his eyes at the savory, subtle flavor and, saying "Oh my, is this Korean ramen soup?" expressed suspicion at the familiar taste.
When Jiseon replied, "No, it's a soup here. It's perfect as a drinking snack, right?", Kim Young-chul repeatedly uttered exclamations and showed he was so taken with the corn that he asked, "Can't we order one more?" He even called it "the most delicious thing I've had since coming to London," naming it London's top delicacy.
But upon learning that a plate of corn cost about 18,000 won, Kim Young-chul exclaimed with a dialect-tinged outcry at London's outrageous prices, saying, "18,000 won? Who charges that for corn. If it's boiled corn, it's ramen soup," causing the scene to erupt in laughter. Afterwards, Kim Young-chul was shown ordering one more serving of corn.
