S.E.S. alum Shoo (real name Yoo Soo-young) revealed shoes she has collected over 20 years.
On the 20th, a video titled "20-year-old shoes look brand new? Shoo's 100-pair shoe closet raid | from daily favorite shoes to lifetime care know-how!" was uploaded to the channel Human That's Shoo.
That day the production team suggested, "You mentioned shoes earlier. We saw them then, but still, today let's do a detailed shoe-closet raid (let's try)."
In response, Shoo said, "I love fashion, I really like clothes and accessories, but the finish of fashion is shoes. What shoes you wear gives the weight to the outfit," stressing the importance of shoes.
She said, "This is where the shoe closet breathes. Look over there. See how many there are," and surprised viewers by revealing shoes filling the pantry. Shoo added, "Am I going to take all of these out today? There's more this way. This side has long boots and also for our oldest child, and Ra-hee and Ra-yul have the same shoe size as me. They always wear my shoes. So many are damaged, but I'll take them out carefully," boasting about the enormous quantity of shoes.
Later Shoo reappeared in the living room densely packed with shoes. She said, "If I take all of these out this place won't hold. I only brought about one-third. This is a bit over 100 pairs, roughly when I counted," drawing admiration.
The production team asked, "Please introduce the good ones," and Shoo said, "I don't think I threw shoes away often. I threw away many that were worn out or broken, and some are newly bought, some are sentimental, and some I haven't worn yet," adding, "I think I've collected them for about 20 years. When I was young I liked dress shoes. High stiletto heels, you know. I wore those a lot. Then I gradually moved to sneakers. As I got older there's no one to meet wearing heels, and even when I go out it's to the supermarket, you can't go to the market in dress shoes. Lately this winter I mostly wore Ugg slippers," conveying her changed tastes.
About the flashy silver long boots, she said, "When I went to Italy, at the Prada store an employee told me I absolutely had to buy these; they said they were shoes that appeared in a show. I think I bought them over 10 years ago and wore them only once. But they're pretty even like this."
When asked about the oldest shoes, Shoo took out black long boots. She said, "These are really old. I've kept them since the S.E.S. days; I think I bought them in Japan at a vintage shop. It was when we were active in Japan, so 2001~2002."
Conversely, about shoes she regrets buying, she took out pink flat shoes and said, "There are shoes I don't wear. I bought them but they're embarrassing to wear. Kind of like that. If I were younger it would be fine, but at this age it's a bit much." She then mentioned a hot-pink heel with a large ribbon, saying, "It's so pretty. But if I sweep around with that it would get blackened. I might just wear it around the house like this." At that moment the ribbon on the shoe fell off, and Shoo warned with a laugh, "Don't buy things like this, it's better if you don't buy them."
Meanwhile, Shoo debuted in 1997 as a member of the group S.E.S. and received much love. In 2010 she married former basketball player Im Hyo-seong and had one son and two daughters. However, from 2016 to 2018 she was sentenced to six months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence for habitual gambling overseas involving several tens of millions of won. After a period of self-reflection she returned to activities, and recently she attracted attention by revealing on YouTube that she and Im Hyo-seong were living separately.
