I Live Alone Kian84 met Junji Ito, the master of horror manga who is a "cosmic presence" to him.
On the 20th, the MBC 'I Live Alone' (I Live Alone) episode that aired showed Kian84 sitting face to face with his idol, manga artist Junji Ito.
When Kian84 came face to face with Junji Ito, whom he had long admired, he was at a loss and exchanged an emotional greeting. In an interview, Kian84 said, "When I actually met him, I literally couldn't close my mouth. That person was moving alive in front of me. It was so amazing. It was just so, so good," expressing his overwhelming impression.
That day Kian84 presented a portrait of Junji Ito that he had drawn himself, and upon seeing the painting Junji Ito could not hide his admiration, saying, "Amazing. You really drew it well." He was especially pleased with the piece that captured his younger years and praised Kian84's skills as an artist, telling him, "Not just cute drawings, you also draw realistic ones really well."
When Junji Ito drew his signature and his representative character "Tomie" on the spot for Kian84, Kian84 choked up and said, "It's Tomie. Wow, I feel like I'm going to cry." Kian84 said he was overcome with emotion as someone drew the character he had examined hundreds or thousands of times right before his eyes.
In an interview Kian84 said, "(Junji Ito is) in his mid-60s. His age is now similar to my mother's," and expressed sadness as he mentioned the hardships of manga artists who live repetitive lives for creation without getting proper rest.
Finally, when Junji Ito handed over the carefully prepared gift painting, Kian84 was once again deeply moved. Junji Ito exclaimed, "Wow, this is real," and declared, "I'll pass it down to my son's son," saying he would hand it down as he finally reddened his eyes.
