Broadcaster Lee Hwi-jae returned to broadcasting after four years.
At the end of KBS2's Immortal Songs aired on the 21st, a preview for next week was released featuring Lee Hwi-jae.
In the program, themed as the "2026 entertainment industry king of singers" special, Lee Hwi-jae went on stage and said, "It's been a while to greet you. I am Lee Hwi-jae." He then reddened his eyes and appeared tearful, drawing attention.
In the preview, Lee Hwi-jae stood before the audience with a somewhat nervous expression, and scenes of him continuing the performance with swollen eyes were captured, raising curiosity about the story he would tell and the performance.
Lee Hwi-jae returned to domestic broadcasting after about four years since he suspended broadcasting activities in 2022. He is reported to have been staying in Canada with his family during that time.
Previously, Lee Hwi-jae faced criticism amid past controversies over his on-air behavior and amid incidents surrounding his wife Moon Jung-won, including complaints about noise between floors and controversy over "toy expenses," after which he stopped his activities.
This return was also carried out cautiously. Lee Hwi-jae reportedly entered the recording studio without passing the photo line and maintained a cautious attitude by not attending the post-recording gathering, among other measures.
Meanwhile, the Immortal Songs featuring Lee Hwi-jae will air on the 28th.<
