Chun Myung Hoon, formerly of NRG, appealed his frustration over being forcibly turned into the "icon of self-restraint."
On the 20th, a video titled "Chun Myung Hoon oppa, supposedly in self-restraint, recent news! The surprising secret to 30 years of activity without a single controversy.." was uploaded to Chaoru's YouTube channel.
That day Chaoru met with Chun Myung Hoon and talked. When asked, "What are you doing these days?" Chun Myung Hoon said, "These days I'm just at home. The show recently finished its season so I'm taking a break, playing games at home, meditating, daydreaming about various things, and practicing self-restraint," which drew attention.
Chaoru exclaimed, "Self-restraint? Turning yourself in at the police station?" and Chun Myung Hoon clarified, "No. In a good way. Self-reflection. It means maturing oneself."
Chaoru asked, "Looking at Korean internet user comments, they keep misunderstanding you as someone controversial even though you haven't done anything wrong. Isn't that very unfair?" Chun Myung Hoon replied, "It's unfair. I'm getting angry thinking about it all of a sudden," and added, "But now the people I was close to have all become like that, so maybe there was some misunderstanding. People usually don't see individuals separately. Ordinary people see them as a lump," mentioning former member Lee Sung Jin and others.
Earlier, Lee Sung Jin suspended activities after being indicted without detention in 2010 on charges of gambling and fraud, and was sentenced to one year in prison with two years of probation and a fine of 5 million won.
Chaoru said, "Friends you used to hang out with? Stay alone," and Chun Myung Hoon confessed, "So I'm scared to meet anyone. I'm at home playing games and exercising."
Chaoru said, "But if I were you, I'd feel very wronged. You've lived correctly until now, haven't you? You don't have any controversies," and Chun Myung Hoon honestly replied, "No. I didn't live correctly. You could say I was managed. Simply put, I was impoverished. I didn't have money. It's a bit of a sad story."
Chaoru asked in surprise, "You worked a lot, didn't you? Where did the money go?" and Chun Myung Hoon said, "I don't know either." Chaoru said, "From watching our videos, I saw that other seniors didn't have money because they were scammed or the company took a large share," and Chun Myung Hoon said, "That happened to me too. I experienced a lot of scams that weren't labeled as scams."
Chaoru asked, "Borrowed money and didn't pay it back?" and Chun Myung Hoon said, "There were things like that and things where people stiffed me. There was gaslighting from the company with penalties and such. Because of things like that, that's true. I didn't have money so I couldn't gamble. Besides, I don't like the gambling style. I don't find it fun. And taking other people's money is kind of off-putting. My heart pounds so I can't do it."
He added jokingly, "If you don't have (money), that's it. If you don't have it, you can't be greedy even if you want to. Being so thoroughly managed and brought down made it so there were no controversies, you could say."
