President Lee Jae-myung directly hit back at SBS's 'Unanswered Questions', which raised allegations of his ties to organized crime, while SBS remained tight-lipped.
On the 20th, President Lee Jae-myung posted on X (formerly Twitter), I am curious whether 'Unanswered Questions', which fabricated the allegation that Lee Jae-myung is linked to organized crime, will willingly run a follow-up report, and if so, what it will report.
Previously, SBS's 'Unanswered Questions' broadcast suspicions of collusion between President Lee Jae-myung and violent organizations in the Seongnam area in July 2018, shortly after his election as governor of Gyeonggi Province.
President Lee Jae-myung said, The 'Unanswered Questions' producer's miraculous logic and Kim Sang-joong's 'real acting' suddenly painted me as a 'murderous gangster,' and added, I see this broadcast as one of the operations mobilized to remove me: physical terror, manipulation of judicial risk through the prosecution, and image-damaging operations through the media.
He continued, The first work the producer made after being transferred to 'Unanswered Questions' was this broadcast, and he apparently left 'Unanswered Questions' not long after. I wonder whether he still considers me linked to organized crime, and whether after this broadcast he solicited tips for follow-up programs, mobilized nationwide broadcasts for months to gather tips, and sent large reporting teams to scour the Seongnam streets — was there even a single tip-like lead among them?
Alongside this, President Lee Jae-myung wrote, If there had been even a speck of a 'lead,' they surely would not have failed to run a follow-up report, and added, To prevent the political practice of burying a person in a grave of falsehoods from recurring, the People Power Party that concocted the fabrication and manipulative broadcasts like 'Unanswered Questions' need to reflect and apologize. It may be presumptuous, but I want to hear a sincere word of apology.
In response to President Lee Jae-myung's direct attack, SBS said, We do not have a position yet, and remained tight-lipped.
