Coupang Play's comedy show SNL Korea has confirmed actress Ko A Sung as the host for episode 2 of season 8.
Ko A Sung, who marks her 22nd year since debut this year and has built solid acting skills, has thrown down the gauntlet to challenge SNL Korea season 8.
Debuting in 2004, Ko A Sung shot to the ranks of "10-million actor" overnight through director Bong Joon-ho's 2006 film "The Host." After Snowpiercer and the Cannes Film Festival invited film "Office," the audience's hearts were heated by "Assassination: The Story of Yu Gwan-sun," she delivered cheerful laughs in "Miss Baek Group's English TOEIC Class," and most recently proved a wide acting spectrum that spans genres up to her first-ever romantic film in her filmography, "Pavane," imprinting herself on the public as a "reliable actor."
Ko A Sung, who will appear as the host of SNL Korea season 8, is expected to captivate viewers with a striking transformation completely different from her past work through her first live comedy performance. Like her flawless Seoul dialect acting shown in the drama Life on Mars or the unexpected charm in the variety show Edward Lee's Country Cook, Ko A Sung, who has a quirky and delightful potential hidden in her clear eyes, is expected to create many talked-about scenes through SNL Korea season 8.
Ko A Sung said, "I never dreamed I would take the stage as the host of SNL Korea season 8. It's my first time doing live comedy, so I'm nervous but excited," and added, "Fitting the title of the country's top comedy show, I will put my clear energy into my performance and act even my eyes, so please watch warmly," raising expectations for a surprising performance.
Along with Ko A Sung's unexpected acting, SNL Korea season 8 episode 2 "Ko A Sung"—which previews the chemistry between comedy masters Shin Dong-yeob, Jeong Sung Ho, Kim Min-kyo, Ahn Young-mi, Jeong I-rang, Lee Suji, Kwon Hyuk-soo, Kim Won-hoon, Ji Ye-eun, Kim Gyu-won, and core crew members as well as newly joining rookie crew members—will be released on Apr. 4 (Sat.) at 8 p.m.
