The producer of the newly returned 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' explained why he rebooked singer DinDin after five years.
On the afternoon of the 19th, MBC Every1 aired an online recorded press conference for the variety program 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' (abbreviated as Welcome). Attending were PD Jeon Min-kyung, who directed the program, and the two MCs Kim Joon-hyun and DinDin, who discussed the rebooted Welcome.
In particular, DinDin had been with the Welcome series from the pilot as an original member but left the program in 2021 and has returned after five years. Some even called it a 'return of a founding contributor.' DinDin said, I left Welcome in July 2021. It's been about five years. When a Welcome article appears, I felt half glad and half sorry. The reason I said I would stop was that I thought I had stayed in one place too long, but I kept feeling nostalgic. Even after time passed, it felt like my home. I thought, 'How dare someone else sit there?' and wanted to try to recreate the program's golden era, he said, explaining his reason for the comeback.
He continued, There was certainly difficulty inviting new friends. Sometimes there was less empathy, but now that anyone can come, there are many things to look forward to. Watching the Paco footage during today's shoot gave me the pilot-era feeling. Back then I watched it thinking it was fun rather than whether it would succeed or fail, and that feeling made me think it could last a long time. I have the memory of first love, but I'm already more mature so I think I can love more skillfully, he added confidently.
Regarding DinDin's return, PD Jeon Min-kyung emphasized, When watching observational variety, it's nice to have someone beside you to chatter more, and in that respect DinDin gives the feeling of something you can watch with family. She stressed especially, There are many times when I feel, 'I thought that way too,' when DinDin speaks honestly. I contacted him first because I thought that pleasantness and honesty could be revealed, she said firmly.
Returning with DinDin after five years, Welcome, First Time in Korea? is a domestic travel reality program that expands from friends visiting the Korea they remembered to the Korea loved by everyone, inviting even those who previously couldn't because they had no Korean friends, offering a more diverse Korean travelogue that simultaneously presents the charms of K-Korea people overlooked until now and the fun arising from cultural differences. It is rebooted and will premiere today (the 19th) at 8:30 p.m.
