On the 18th, ENA told OSEN regarding the controversy over unpaid appearance fees by the production company of 'House of Girls', which ended in July last year, "ENA signed a production contract with company A, the production company of 'House of Girls', and the production costs under the contract were paid in full on schedule. Accordingly, ENA's obligations related to payment of production costs have all been fulfilled," it said.
Afterward, ENA, having recognized that company A had unpaid balances to some contracted partner companies, said, "We have continuously requested the production company to promptly resolve the matter (and obtained payment guarantees)." Despite ENA's repeated requests, the production company ultimately did not pay the appearance fees.
ENA said, "We regard this situation with deep regret, and we will continue to press company A to resolve the related matter quickly."
Meanwhile, 'House of Girls' is a music program that depicts the growth process of 10 'untitled artists' who are gaining attention in the indie scene as they release compilation tracks through individual missions. Lee Yi-kyung served as the host, and Jaurim's Kim Yun A, Yang Dong-geun, Shin Yong-jae and Soyu participated as judges. Company A reportedly raised investment funds, signed a programming contract with ENA, and the content IP rights were structured to be held by the production company. It was also reported that the contracts with the production staff and cast were handled by the production company.
However, one media outlet reported that MC Lee Yi-kyung, who participated in 'House of Girls', judges and mentors Kim Yun A and Yang Dong-geun, and the singers who appeared as participants all did not receive their appearance fees. In addition, many companies that had subcontracted with company A, such as PDs and writers, reportedly were not properly paid for their services. Accordingly, it was reported that the 'Haogeol' production team and some cast members filed a criminal complaint in November last year against the representative of company A on charges including fraud, breach of trust and embezzlement.
