'You Quiz on the Block' former cast members were all women, and each showed charming and lovely sides.
On the 18th episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereinafter 'You Quiz'), Olympic most-medaled short track skater Choi Min-jeong, Hayerin of Bridgerton 4, Choi Ji-soo who balances part-time jobs while acting, and Yeom Hye-ran, the top pick for Chungmuro casting, appeared.
Choi Min-jeong, who said she would now finish her Olympic participation. Choi Min-jeong said, "When I trained in a private team, the training schedule was irregular, and there were times I skated at 3 a.m.," revealing the training routine she had followed for more than a decade. Choi Min-jeong's mother said, "I worked part-time. But I had to pick up the child, and it was too hard to continue. So I sold the house and reduced expenses to support her. Choi Min-jeong asked, 'Why does the house keep getting smaller?' and I said, 'Because of you,'" saying there was family support.
Choi Min-jeong said, "During my career I thought I wasn't very lucky, but my mother always told me to be humble. I think that's why I was able to finish my last Olympics well. Even when things were hard, my mother always supported me with the same heart," conveying her feelings to her mother, and Choi Min-jeong's mother broke into tears.
Hayerin, the first Korean female lead in 'Bridgerton 4' who has gained global popularity, appeared with her grandmother Sonsuk. Sonsuk proudly said, "Until last year she was Sonsuk's granddaughter, but at some point she became Hayerin's grandmother Sonsuk."
Hayerin revealed the audition process, saying, "The agency contacted me asking if I knew 'Bridgerton' and told me to send two acting videos within 24 hours. I auditioned again via Zoom for the second round, auditioned with the male lead Luke Thompson in the third round, and a few days later they told me I got the part." She said she decided to become an actor after watching her grandmother Sonsuk's one-woman performances when she was young. Hayerin said, "People cried when they watched my grandmother's acting. I learned about art." Hayerin, who spent her school years in Australia, attended high school in Korea at her mother's suggestion.
Hayerin entered a famous acting school in Australia and ran tirelessly for seven years, and finally saw the light.
Choi Ji-soo, who plays Nora in Undercover Miss Hong, appeared. After 11 years as an unknown actor while working part-time jobs, he is an earnest and steady performer. His eyes still sparkle with dreams as he said, "I really wanted to go to a high school for arts. I wanted the uniform and didn't like the expensive tuition, and I thought if I said anything my father would say, 'I don't think I can send you,' and that would hurt me more, so I just said it was okay. But I really wanted to study acting in college, so I asked him to help me just once. That's how I went to college."
Finally landing a major role and becoming known, Choi Ji-soo told broadcasters, "There are many rookie actors like me who work part-time and run hard, so please discover them."
Actor Yeom Hye-ran was at a loss for words when called "Chungmuro's top casting pick." Her modesty beyond humility was in fact Yeom Hye-ran's own cautiousness. A member of the "small heart alliance," Yeom Hye-ran said, "The 'small heart association' usually starts sentences with 'yesterday~.' There is a thing about yesterday."
Yeom Hye-ran said, "I joined a theater club in college, and the older students brought seaweed soup on birthdays and bought lemon soju. Then lemon soju came out again," and said, "When I acted in theater and went home my heart raced for days. That's why I started acting." She spoke about her role as Gwangrye in When Life Gives You Tangerines, which moved the nation, saying, "Of the comments on the 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' video, 'I watched this and cried, then fought three hours later' is the one I relate to most. I do that too."
Yeom Hye-ran said, "My mother had a lot materially, but it seems she never received recognition or praise. I receive recognition for small things. It feels like I was born in an era when my mother's possessions weren't fully recognized," expressing her love for her mother.
