Stray Kids' Changbin proved his exceptional wealth by buying the Daechang APT. in Apgujeong with all cash.
According to the registry on the 19th, Changbin purchased a single unit with a net area of 198㎡ in the Hyundai APT. (phases 1 and 2) in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in February last year under his sole name. Since no mortgage was registered, it appears he paid the full sale price of 9.4 billion won in cash.
The complex is a prime location in Apgujeong reconstruction district 3 and is slated to be transformed into a large complex of about 5,000 households, rising from five basement levels to a maximum of 65 floors above ground. It is considered the so-called "reconstruction leader," with total construction costs reaching 5.5 trillion won.
In particular, the unit Changbin bought is known to be in the royal building and royal floors with a view of the Han River. Compared with the same floor plan selling for 12.7 billion won last year, he bought it for more than 3 billion won less, and it is more than 1 billion won cheaper than the current lowest asking price.
Apgujeong Hyundai APT. is also famous as a representative residential area preferred by celebrities such as broadcaster Yu Jae-seok and TVXQ!'s Max Changmin. Yu Jae-seok bought a 196.21㎡ (about 59 pyeong) unit in Apgujeong Hyundai phase 2 in August 2000. The purchase price was not disclosed, but the market price at the time was known to be in the 700 million to 1 billion won range.
The area is currently designated as a land transaction permission zone, where owner-occupancy obligations apply, so Changbin is also likely to live there personally.
Born in 1999 and 27 this year, Changbin debuted with Stray Kids in 2018 and is active in the global market. Stray Kids established themselves as a leading K-pop artist by recording eight consecutive No. 1 albums on the U.S. Billboard main albums chart, the Billboard 200. They also proved their popularity in the U.S. last year with 1.2 billion on-demand streams.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids will release a new digital single, "Star, Light (STAY)," on the 25th and meet fans.
