TV CHOSUN weekend miniseries 'Doctor Shin' Jung Yi-chan, Baek Seora and An Woo Yeon are caught straddling a dangerously thin, dizzying boundary as a "forbidden triangular signal," raising a sense of foreboding.
The TV CHOSUN weekend miniseries 'Doctor Shin,' which premiered on the 14th (written by Phoebe (Im Seong-han), directed by Lee Seung-hoon), is a medical thriller about a genius doctor who challenges the realm of the gods and a woman whose brain is damaged overnight and is losing her soul. In episodes 1 and 2 of 'Doctor Shin,' true to being the first medical thriller written by writer Phoebe, reversals and startling developments born of Phoebe's singular imagination kept erupting without giving viewers a breather and sparked conversation.
In the recent episode of 'Doctor Shin,' genius doctor Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung Yi-chan) began a fateful romance with top actress Momo (played by Baek Seora), but the episode included a scene in which Momo is injured and falls into an unconscious state. Afterwards, Momo's mother Hyun Ran-hee (played by Song Ji In) asks Shin Ju-shin to perform a brain change surgery, and attention turned to the outcome.
Meanwhile, a scene of the "precarious triangular signal" between Jung Yi-chan, Baek Seora and An Woo Yeon was captured, raising anxiety. At the 'night of gratitude' event held at the Nua Foundation orphanage in the drama, Ha Yong-jung (played by An Woo Yeon) is shown playing the contrabass. Momo suddenly dances, mounts the stage and activates provocative flirting toward Ha Yong-jung, and Ha Yong-jung, though flustered, cannot take his eyes off her. At that moment, Shin Ju-shin, who witnesses the two's suggestive atmosphere, casts a shocked look, prompting curiosity about how the relationship among the three will unfold.
Jung Yi-chan, Baek Seora and An Woo Yeon properly captured the characters' psychological changes in the "triangular signal" scene where three different emotional lines subtly collide. Jung Yi-chan portrayed Shin Ju-shin, shocked by seeing his lover Momo and his friend Ha Yong-jung together, with a single look in otherwise expressionless features. Baek Seora completed Momo's emotional line with three-dimensionality, evoking a sense of some secret intent, and An Woo Yeon delicately expressed Ha Yong-jung's emotions, wavering between embarrassment and attraction. The three actors' perfectly combined emotional performances produced a convincing scene.
The production team said, "In episodes 3 and 4 of 'Doctor Shin,' variables and reversals that nobody would have expected will rush in like a storm," and added, "Please watch to see whether a triangular romance between Jung Yi-chan, Baek Seora and An Woo Yeon will actually be possible, as 'Doctor Shin' begins to cast the shadow of catastrophe."
