The action blockbuster the world has been waiting for in 2026, Dune: Part 3, has confirmed its domestic release in December 2026 and released a first trailer and character posters.
The film Dune: Part 3 is an action blockbuster that depicts the massive war and conflict faced by Paul (Timothée Chalamet), who has inherited absolute power, as he chooses an unavoidable destiny. The Dune series, based on Frank Herbert's 1965 science fiction novel, was reborn under director Denis Villeneuve and continued with Dune in 2021 and Dune: Part 2 in 2024, achieving worldwide cumulative box office revenue of $1.125 billion (Hanwha 1.6729 trillion won) and winning eight Academy Awards, proving both its artistic merit and commercial success. The Dune series, which captivated global audiences with its wondrous visuals and cinematography, grand scale and weighty direction, and dazzling casting, has formed a powerful fandom in Korea known as "Dunechinza" and has garnered absolute support.
As Dune: Part 3, which foreshadows the series' grand conclusion, confirmed its domestic release in December 2026, it attracted intense interest by releasing a first trailer and nine character posters.
The released trailer begins with a tender moment in which Paul and Chani (Zendaya) name an unborn child, then shows Paul 17 years later as Muad'Dib, having ascended to the position of emperor of the universe. Amid repeated wars and chaos, Paul, who has become a being beyond absolute power with the ability to see the future, stands at the center of conflicts surrounding politics, religion and power, adding tension.
In particular, the scene in which Paul, transformed with short hair and a cool expression, declares "I am not afraid to die," and the image of Chani opposing him spark curiosity about the change in their relationship. Director Denis Villeneuve said of this work, "It will be a stronger film with intensified action and tension compared with the previous installment, and even more powerful," foreshadowing an overwhelming narrative to conclude the series.
Meanwhile, the character posters released together concentrate images of the characters' resolute looks as they face a moment that determines the fate of the universe, capturing attention.
