The brother of Girls' Generation member Taeyeon is drawing attention again for his handsome appearance.
On a recent broadcast of tvN Amazing Saturday, comedian Kim Ji-yoo, who said she is also from Jeonju like Taeyeon, mentioned his brother. Kim Ji-yoo began by saying, "When I was in middle school there was a Girls' Generation fan signing event at Jeonju Entopia Square, and I saw Taeyeon unni's older brother."
She went on, "I saw him from a distance and he was glowing," and recalled, "I fell for him at first sight when I saw him greeting Taeyeon unni face to face. Her older brother was handsome and famous in Jeonju." She drew attention by even mentioning his real name and expressing regret, saying, "I asked a mutual acquaintance to set up a meeting, but in the end we couldn't meet."
It was also reported that Taeyeon's older brother currently lives in Jeonju and is single, which increased interest. Kim Ji-yoo joked that she was "checking through intermediaries," showing continued interest and drawing laughter.
After the broadcast, interest in Taeyeon's older brother surged again, particularly on online communities. Old family photos and videos were reexamined, triggering what is known as a "re-up."
Her older brother also appeared in Taeyeon's solo music video "I." He appeared wearing a black hat at the time and attracted attention for his distinct features and warm visuals. His appearance, similar to Taeyeon yet different with a more masculine aura, also drew attention.
Netizens expressed strong interest with reactions such as, "Why didn't he become an idol," "A look SM would have coveted," "He's the male version of Taeyeon," and "No wonder Kim Ji-yoo fell for him."
Furthermore, some netizens shared an anecdote saying, "The older brother was originally famous first. Taeyeon was called 'that brother's younger sister' before she became better known for her singing after a festival stage."
