CORTIS gave a special performance at the 'Today at Apple session' commemorating Apple's 50th anniversary.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho) attended 'Spotlight: Coloring outside the lines with CORTIS' held March 18 at Apple Myeongdong in Seoul. The event was organized as part of a global project celebrating Apple's 50th anniversary. Hundreds of pre-registered participants and domestic and international reporters filled the space.
Host Jaejae introduced CORTIS as a team showing a new and original color in popular music. He also praised them as artists who most perfectly show creativity ahead of their time, saying the team name, which means 'to think freely outside the standards and rules set by the world,' resonates with Apple.
In the following discussion, the five members had an honest conversation about the meaning of Apple's emphasized philosophy 'Thinking different.' Martin replied, "I don't think creativity applies only to the realm of art. Worries in daily life and choices made as human beings are also a form of creativity." He mentioned winning a rookie award as the most memorable moment on the journey toward creativity. Geonho said, "I was proud because it was an achievement created by working with the members. I remember welling up when I saw the majestic view of the audience from the award stage."
CORTIS, a 'young creator crew' that creates music, choreography, and video themselves, also talked about their usual working methods. Sunghyun said, "When a melody or lyrics come to mind, I frequently save them in voice memos. Since my trainee days, I have often used Apple's music production programs."
They also gave a sneak peek at the message of their mini second album GREENGREEN, which will be officially released on May 4. James hinted, "Compared with our debut album, we took a bold challenge to capture a more 'raw' image. We tried to express who we are now with a natural and rough feel." Juhun shared an anecdote about the new song "YOUNGCREATORCREW," saying, "Many people calling us the 'young creator crew' was playfully expressed. It came out of standing in a circle with the microphone in the middle and freestyling."
CORTIS gave an enthusiastic performance at the event. They performed their debut song 'What You Want,' 'GO!' and 'YOUNGCREATORCREW,' turning the Apple store into a concert venue in an instant. The members' dynamic energy stood out, and participants responded with roaring cheers and group singing.
CORTIS has continued collaborating with Apple since their debut. In January they produced the performance video for 'GO!' in an 8K ultra-high-resolution Apple Immersive Video format with a 180-degree field of view and released it as Apple Vision Pro content. Last year they appeared on Apple Music's The Zane Lowe Show and received a strong response.
