Actor Yeom Hye-ran called herself "a daughter with the same surname Geum-myeong" and cried while talking about her mother.
On the 18th, the production team of tvN variety show You Quiz on the Block posted a pre-release video of episode 335, which will air that night, on its official YouTube channel. The video included clips of Yeom Hye-ran, who appears as a guest on You Quiz episode 335, drawing attention.
In the video, Yeom Hye-ran evoked warmth with her unpretentious manner. Through last year's film No Other Choice, she worked with director Park Chan-wook for the first time, and she said, "While shooting another project, a text came from an unknown number. It was a message saying 'do well on your first shoot,' and it was signed 'Park Chan-wook,' so I jumped up," which made people laugh.
She continued, "When I actually communicate with people like director Park Chan-wook, I don't know how to end the conversation. If I reply, I want to talk more. Then I feel like I'm taking up that person's time, so in the end I write, 'You don't have to reply,'" she said nervously, adding to the laughter.
Yet Yeom Hye-ran said the person she regrets treating brusquely is her mother. Yeom Hye-ran, who earned praise for her poignant maternal acting as Gwang-rye in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines, described herself as, "I'm not a mother like Gwang-rye but a daughter with the same surname Geum-myeong." She confessed, "I'm the type who can't even say kind words gently, who says, 'Why did you do that!' then hangs up and regrets it."
Her mother was that dear to Yeom Hye-ran. Yeom Hye-ran choked up, saying, "My mother has a lot, but it seems she never had the chance to be recognized and praised for it. It's sad that she was born in a time when those many things weren't acknowledged." Tearful, he lifted his head as he struggled to contain his emotions and added to the poignancy with a flustered, "Oh, why am I like this?"
Yeom Hye-ran's frank stories about her mother aroused both curiosity and emotion. It will air today (the 18th) at 8:45 p.m.
