Singer Ailee opened up about side effects she experienced during preparations for in vitro fertilization.

That day, Ailee and Choi Si-hoon shared an update on preparing for the IVF procedure. Choi Si-hoon said, "Now we've just completed egg retrieval, right? Between the pre- and post-egg retrieval stages, it seems she had a harder time after the retrieval."
Ailee said, "Actually, after the retrieval I didn't have pain or anything," and added, "I had trapped gas and kept swelling." In response, Choi Si-hoon explained, "There are medications you take after retrieval. Those drugs can have side effects like constipation." Then Ailee said in surprise, "There was a notice saying you could gain about 2 or 3kg. But I really did gain weight."
In particular, Choi Si-hoon said, "The worst side effect was not being able to go to the bathroom well," describing the side effects. He recalled the difficult situation, saying, "I thought moving a bit would help circulation and lead to elimination, so we even tried to go for a walk, but we went and then came back. She couldn't walk because it hurt so much."
Ailee said, "And this varies by woman. Depending on how much is retrieved, the amount of gas in the abdomen and such differs," and Choi Si-hoon expressed sympathy, saying, "Because more was retrieved, she might have been in more pain."
Meanwhile, Ailee married actor-turned-entrepreneur Choi Si-hoon, who appeared on Netflix's Single's Inferno 1, in 2024. The two are currently undergoing IVF for a second child.<
